SOMIF Donates Ambulance to Gu©gu©r© Commune to Enhance Healthcare Access

Gu©gu©r©: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Soci©t© des mines du Faso (SOMIF), El Hadj Mohamadi Sawadogo, officially donated a new ambulance to the commune of Gu©gu©r© during a ceremony attended by notable figures, including the High Commissioner of Ioba Province, Innocents Ouattara.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the keys to the ambulance were handed over at Gu©gu©r© Town Hall amidst the presence of Jacob Bazemo, President of the Gu©gu©r© Municipal Special Delegation (PDS), His Majesty T©onan II, Chief of the Gu©gu©r© Canton, Dr. Salam Mand©, Chief Medical Officer of the Dano Health District (MCD), and Artio Hien, Regional Director in charge of mines in the Southwest. The donation, valued at 50 million CFA francs, was aimed at supporting national efforts to improve healthcare accessibility, as stated by SOMIF CEO El Hadj Mohamadi Sawadogo.

SOMIF’s contribution addresses a critical need in the commune, which has been without an ambulance for two years. PDS leader Jacob Bazemo expressed gratitude and emphasized the importance of maintaining the vehicle to ensure reliable medical evacuations for the commune’s 37 villages. The CEO acknowledged the government’s role in facilitating the tax exemption for the ambulance’s customs clearance, highlighting a collaborative effort toward improving local healthcare.

Dr. Salam Mand© highlighted the impact of the donation, noting that it aligns with the Ministry of Health’s priorities to provide quality care. He emphasized the importance of establishing a management committee to oversee the ambulance’s operation. The communal and regional leaders, including the High Commissioner, praised SOMIF’s initiative as a reflection of the state’s vision for universal healthcare access.

Innocents Ouattara, the High Commissioner, described the donation as a testament to SOMIF’s solidarity with the Gu©gu©r© population, urging the community to safeguard the ambulance to ensure its longevity. He reiterated his appreciation for SOMIF’s support and commended healthcare workers for their dedication to improving local health outcomes.
