Somalia’s President Leads National Security Committee Meeting

Mogadishu – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, chaired a National Security Committee meeting, focusing on strategies to eradicate terrorist groups and enhance collaboration among government security branches. The meeting also prepared for the upcoming security conference for Somalia in New York.

According to Somali National News Agency, The Committee received briefings from army Commanders and acknowledged the cooperation of the Somali public with security forces. The Committee praised the Somali National Army’s recent victories against Al-Shabaab terrorists in regions such as Mudug, Galmudug, Hiiraan, and Middle Shabelle. The army’s efforts in bolstering the morale of local forces and liberating their homes from terrorist militants were also commended. The meeting concluded with discussions on the completion of the first phase of the offensive against the militants and plans to eradicate their remnants in the Hirshabelle and Galmudug regions.
