Somali Prime Minister Visits Kismayo to Assess Humanitarian Crisis and Discuss Security

Kismayo, Somalia – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, HE Hamza Abdi Barre, along with a delegation, arrived in the city of Kismayo, where they were received by the Jubbaland State President, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, the vice president, the Mayor of Kismayo, and members of the local society.

According to Somali National News Agency, The Prime Minister’s visit primarily aims to inspect the humanitarian situation following the devastating flash floods that resulted in the deaths of 96 people and displaced approximately 900,000 from their homes. This visit underscores the Somali government’s concern for the affected people and its commitment to addressing the crisis.

In addition to assessing the humanitarian impact, Prime Minister Hamza’s agenda includes discussions with the Jubbaland State Government about intensifying offensives against the Al-Shabaab terrorist group. The goal is to eradicate their presence from Somalia, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and ensure national security.

Prime Minister Barre expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the government and people of Jubbaland. This visit signifies a crucial step in both addressing the immediate humanitarian needs and strategizing the continued fight against terrorism in Somalia.
