Somali President and Prime Minister Address Nation on Eve of Eid al-Adha, Pledge to Combat Corruption and Promote Unity

Mogadishu, Somalia, SONNA – On the eve of Eid al-Adha, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre addressed the nation, congratulating the Somali people and discussing the challenges they face. During his speech, President Mohamud identified corruption as the primary obstacle hindering the progress of the nation. He stated that Somalia will achieve a fully functioning government and self-sufficiency, ensuring a dignified life for all Somalis. The president vowed to combat corruption with the same vigor as terrorism, emphasizing that only by eradicating corruption can these goals be achieved. Prime Minister Barre also offered his congratulations to the Somali people and Muslims worldwide, expressing his desire for their progress, peace, prosperity, and unity. The speeches were well received by the Somali people, who are hopeful for a brighter future under the leadership of President Mohamud and Prime Minister Barre.
