Solemn National Colors Ceremony Promotes Economic Patriotism in Dourtenga


Ouagadougou: The Dourtenga town hall hosted, this Monday, the ceremony of the solemn raising of the national colors, as part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, initiated by the President of Faso.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, led by Abdel Nasser Diarra, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Dourtenga, focused on the theme: “Food sovereignty and economic patriotism: together, let us cultivate our dignity through local production and consumption.” During his speech, Mr. Diarra conveyed the President of Burkina Faso’s message, acknowledging the presence of administrative authorities, religious leaders, and the strong turnout of the population.



Mr. Diarra highlighted the significance of food choices, criticizing the influence of food imperialism. He encouraged shopkeepers to showcase local products in their stores to support the national economy and promote “Made in Burkina Faso.” He declared an end to the era of mental conditioning and rejection of local products, advocating for the adoption of responsible consumption habits centered on local production. He emphasized that these values should be passed on to future generations.



The theme of the event, underscored by the slogan “My plate, my pride,” called for collective action against food dependency. Mr. Diarra urged government agencies, schools, and families to prioritize traditional Burkinab¨ dishes in their daily diets.



He concluded by stressing the necessity for a radical commitment to building a robust national economy, with local production taking precedence and imports being minimized. The ceremony concluded with an appeal from the PDS to the people and authorities to transform the President of Faso’s directives into tangible actions.
