GOURCY - A group of 40 young people from the Northern Region, including 13 girls and 27 boys, have successfully completed a specialized training in photovoltaic systems, enhancing their skills in solar energy technology. The training, part of the Community Project for the Recovery and Stabilization of the Sahel (PCRSS-Burkina), concluded with a ceremony on Monday at the Association Monde Rural (AMR) headquarters in Gourcy.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Head of the Regional PCRSS branch in the North, the training session held from May 31 to June 10, 2024, marked the second phase of the program. It focused on maintaining the photovoltaic systems installed at the AMR premises and reinforcing the lessons from the first session through practical exercises. The event saw participation from local government officials, community leaders, and notable figures from the region, underlining the community's support for the initiative.
Issa Yabré, the trainer for the program, emphasized the practical nature of the training, which was designed to build on the participants' prior knowledge and prepare them for real-world applications. Balguissa Porgo, speaking on behalf of the participants, expressed gratitude for the training, highlighting its significance in contributing to rural development and combating global warming.
The ceremony also included the distribution of certificates by Abdoulaye Savadogo, the director of associative life at the AMR. He encouraged the recipients to apply their newly acquired skills to benefit not only themselves but also their communities. "Don't be satisfied with the certificates received. Get to work because this is the best way to capitalize on your acquired knowledge," he advised.
The president of the session addressed the participants, praising their commitment and readiness to contribute to sustainable development through solar technology. The event closed with a showcase of the skills and projects developed by the participants during their training.
This initiative is part of the broader PCRSS goal to strengthen the resilience of populations in areas impacted by security challenges, fostering sustainable development and energy independence through skill development.
