Windhoek: Public Enterprises Forum spokesperson Patty Karauihe-Martin announced that 25 percent of all sponsorship obtained for the upcoming State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Games in Rundu will be reinvested in the Kavango East Region through a community development initiative. According to Namibia Press Agency, Karauihe-Martin, during a media briefing on Monday ahead of the games scheduled for July 2-4, 2026, stated that the Public Enterprises Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) Forum will select a community project or school to benefit from the contribution. This initiative is part of the Forum's commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. "CSR is something we believe in as public enterprises. We make sure there is development in all the regions where these games are held. Looking at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is important for us to give back," Karauihe-Martin emphasized. She also mentioned that the games will commence on Thursday with a soccer match involvi ng CEOs. Approximately 4,500 participants are expected to attend the annual event, aiming to foster collaboration among SOEs while economically benefiting the host region. Additionally, Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare Dr. Emma Kantema will represent Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare at the opening ceremony and is set to participate in the 10-kilometre race. Public Enterprises Forum treasurer Kenneth Matomola highlighted that this year's SOE Games are about more than sport, serving as a platform to enhance collaboration, teamwork, and professional relationships among Namibia's public enterprises. He also noted that the games will coincide with the Public Enterprises Forum's Annual General Meeting (AGM), where CEOs will discuss key issues impacting public enterprises and the nation.
