Social Justice Takes Center Stage at CERFI Conference on Social Cohesion

Ouagadougou: The Circle for Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) recently organized its 3rd edition of the central regional conference to foster social justice and harmonious coexistence among communities. The event, held on Saturday, emphasized the vital role of justice, forgiveness, peace, and unity in promoting collective well-being.

According to Burkina Information Agency, CERFI President Dr. Hamidou Yam©ogo highlighted the conference's theme, "Social justice, a guarantee of peace and social cohesion," and the expanded diversity of this year's participants. For the first time, the gathering included members from various community sectors, including Tidjiania brothers, Muslims, and non-Muslims, reflecting a broader inclusion.

Keynote speaker Imam Tiogo Tiemtor© elaborated on the conference's focus, which intertwined social justice, peace, and cohesion. He noted that the discussions would draw on Islamic teachings, sociocultural realities, and societal laws to address these interconnected issues.

Aboubacar Nacanabo, representing the event's sponsor, stressed the importance of adhering to fundamental principles to prevent social imbalances and maintain cohesion. The conference, sponsored by Soumaila Zorom, Permanent Secretary of the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR), aims to enhance social unity across various communities.

Looking ahead, CERFI plans to extend its 2025 regional conferences to all regional capitals throughout the country, continuing its mission to promote social justice and cohesion.
