SNC 2026: Ousseni Sawadogo’s Novel “Au Bout Des Larmes” Presented at Nazi Boni University

Bobo-dioulasso: As part of the 22nd edition of the National Culture Week (SNC), the writer and non-commissioned officer of the national gendarmerie, Ousseni Sawadogo, proceeded to dedicate his novel "Au bout des larmes", during a series of dedications organized at the Nazi Boni University of Bobo-Dioulasso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the book, published in January 2026, is inspired by a true story which, according to the author, has become a universal issue. The plot takes place in Bobo-Dioulasso and features Malian and Guinean families around an arranged marriage, in a context marked by the weight of traditions and religious considerations.

The novel follows the journey of a young woman forced into marriage after graduating from high school, despite her ambition to pursue further studies. Having accepted the choices imposed by her family, she discovers on her wedding night her husband's impotence, a situation that sets the stage for numerous trials.

Ousseni Sawadogo indicated that this work aims to stimulate reflection on forced marriage and the social realities experienced by some young girls. The author expressed satisfaction with the public's reception of the book, believing that the theme addressed remains relevant and deserves to be discussed within society.

The book is sold at a unit price of 5000 CFA francs.
