Ouagadougou: The statutory members of the Sissili Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) gathered on Monday for their third ordinary session of 2024, led by High Commissioner Tewindé Isaac Sia. The session focused on the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive, aiming to enhance food security in the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Lévi Kabré, the head of the provincial service for sectoral studies and statistics, emphasized that the implementation of the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive (OAPH) is crucial for meeting local consumption needs and reducing reliance on imported food products. Kabré highlighted several actions taken to achieve these goals, such as the construction of high-flow boreholes and increased support for producers through fertilizers, improved seeds, livestock feed, and the development of lowlands. Additionally, the creation of an agricultural mechanization brigade and MARAH fields were noted as significant efforts.

Kabré also provided an update on the current agricul
tural campaigns, noting progress in the 2023-2024 dry season and 2024-2025 wet season efforts in Sissili. He acknowledged that while efforts have been made, challenges remain in areas like water control, input quantity, producer organization for rice production, and intensifying production efforts.

The session also included presentations on reproductive health indicators for the first half of 2024 and the status of road infrastructure projects in Sissili. High Commissioner Sia expressed gratitude to the members of the provincial consultation framework for their active participation and extended thanks to the Union of Forest Management Groups of South-West-Sissili (UGGF/SOS) for their financial support, which facilitated the session.
