Sissili Initiates Environmental and Eco-citizenship Unit to Preserve Nature

Sissili: The Prefect and President of the Special Delegation of Silly, Christophe Bonkoungou, has officially installed the Environmental and Eco-citizenship Cell (CECO) in the municipality, consisting of 21 voluntary members dedicated to nature preservation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting commenced with introductions from various leaders and organizational representatives. Christophe Bonkoungou detailed the unit's composition, noting a modification to the positions for customary and religious authorities, which were split into two separate roles, thereby increasing the CECO membership to 21.

The mayor elaborated on the unit's mission, which includes coordinating environmental protection initiatives, organizing sanitation, reforestation, and landscaping projects, conducting environmental education, and monitoring outcomes.

Participants welcomed the initiative, with Athanase Bonkoungou highlighting its importance for capacity building, awareness, and robust environmental protection actions. He noted the unit's potential to develop local solutions for environmental damage and maintain city cleanliness.

In conclusion, the PDS stressed the voluntary nature of the work, urging members to prioritize community interests. Christophe Bonkoungou expressed hope that the cell would elevate the commune's standing in the province through its activities and wished the team success.
