Léo: The governor of the Centre-West region, Boubacar Nouhoun Traoré, carried out an exchange meeting on December 4, 2024, in Léo with the vital forces of the Sissili province as part of the general census of companies in the region. The meeting aimed to engage key players in the region to facilitate the comprehensive business census.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Traoré was joined by the regional director of Economy and Planning, Salifou Sawadogo, and the consular representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mahama Sawadogo. They convened with local stakeholders to discuss the upcoming General Business Census (RGE), which seeks to collect critical data for government decision-making.

High Commissioner of Sissili province, Tewindé Isaac Sia, encouraged participants to pay close attention to the presentations. Governor Traoré expressed appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized the significance of the census for understanding the economic landscape. He highlighted that
the RGE would cover both formal and non-formal businesses and provide a comprehensive database accessible globally.

Governor Traoré noted the importance of understanding the number and profiles of businesses, including those managed by women, and assured participants the census is purely informational and not related to taxation. The meeting also aimed to reassure attendees about the benefits of the operation, emphasizing the informal sector’s contribution to the national economy.

The gathering effectively raised awareness among Sissili’s vital forces, securing their support for the census’s success. Concerns raised by participants were addressed satisfactorily by the governor and his team, ensuring widespread backing for the initiative.

Governor Traoré urged participants to disseminate information to those unable to attend and encourage participation among hesitant individuals. He also called for resilience among business owners, acknowledging the inherent challenges businesses face.
