Sindou – On November 13, 2023, a technical team and leaders of the organizing committee for the first Sindou Peaks Peace Half-Marathon, led by the secretary general of the province, Yéonviel Somé, officially approved the 21 km race route. The half-marathon will start at the base of the Sindou Peaks and conclude at the Niofila dam.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the route validation process began at 2:20 pm on November 13, with technical staff and commission members, accompanied by security agents, inspecting the marathon circuit. Following the inspection, it was confirmed that defense force and security agents would be positioned throughout the course for participant safety. Additionally, refreshment stations and water sponges will be available every 5 km along the route.
Prior to validating the circuit, the organizing committee convened a meeting with directors and heads of provincial services, military and paramilitary authorities, and local customary and religious leaders to present the event’s program and objectives. The initiative marks a first for the Léraba province, with the event scheduled to take place from November 14 to 18, 2023.
