Katima mulilo: The Electoral Commission of Namibia announced the final results for the 2025 Regional Council Election in the Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency, located in the Zambezi Region. Simasiku Kennedy Simasiku from the SWAPO Party emerged as the winner, securing his position as the Councillor for the constituency.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the election results indicated a significant lead by the SWAPO Party candidate, Simasiku Kennedy Simasiku, who garnered 4,063 votes. This substantial margin placed him well ahead of his competitors. The National Democratic Party of Namibia's candidate, Musweu Prinslow, came in second with 688 votes.
Other candidates included Musiyalike Charles Kabajani of the Independent Patriots for Change, who received 495 votes, and Kalaluka Watson Kalaluka from the Affirmative Repositioning movement, who acquired 288 votes. The Popular Democratic Movement's candidate, Tupalezwi Coster Mate, received 102 votes, while the Republican Party of Namibia's Mola Fred Waluka secured 76 votes. Mubita Charles Mutanuka from the United Namibians Party received 71 votes, and independent candidate Nyambe Shepherd Malabali obtained 144 votes. There were also 107 rejected ballots.
Simasiku Kennedy Simasiku's victory in the Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency reinforces the SWAPO Party's influence in the region, as he takes on the role of Councillor following the election.
