“Following an attack that occurred on Friday September 1, 2023 against a VDP position in the surroundings of Silmiougou, a unit composed of elements of the Group of Mobile Intervention Units (GUMI), Mobile Intervention Unit (UMI ) of the National Police and VDP deployed to reinforce the attacked VDP group.

The attackers had to retreat in the face of the firepower of the units which managed to neutralize around ten terrorists. Weapons and rolling stock were also seized.

A police officer and 4 VDP unfortunately lost their lives during the fighting.
