Abidjan: Sierra Leone's Minister of Internal Affairs, AIG. Rtd. Morie Lengor Esq, and Chief Immigration Officer Dr. Moses Tiffa Baio Esq attended the high-level Migration Dialogue for West Africa (MIDWA) meeting at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The gathering brought together Ministers responsible for Migration and Border Management alongside Heads of Immigration Services from across the ECOWAS region. Their goal was to strengthen regional security, improve migration governance, and enhance cross-border cooperation. According to Sierra Leone News Agency, Minister Lengor, acting as the lead representative of ECOWAS Ministers for Migration and Border Management, emphasized the necessity of implementing the ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol. He advocated for harmonized laws and a unified identity system to facilitate seamless travel for citizens across member states. On behalf of ECOWAS Heads of Immigration, Dr. Baio presented a comprehensive report with key recommendations from technical sess ions. He outlined twenty proposals, which the Ministers reviewed before forwarding them for formal consideration at the upcoming ECOWAS Summit, scheduled for July 2026. Several side events honored Minister Lengor for his leadership and successful coordination of the meeting, which participants described as productive and forward-looking.
