Sierra Leone and Bahrain Forge Educational Partnership

Manama: Her Excellency Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education of the Republic of Sierra Leone, met with His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to explore initiatives aimed at fostering educational collaboration between the two nations.

According to Sierra Leone News Agency, Dr. Juma welcomed the delegation from Sierra Leone, expressing enthusiasm for sharing Bahrain's strategies in creating a quality education system. He outlined the Ministry's focus on early childhood, school education, and polytechnic education, highlighting projects aimed at enhancing education, technical training, and higher education.

Dr. Juma emphasized ongoing efforts in curriculum development, teacher skill enhancement, and expansion of digital learning opportunities in Bahrain. These initiatives aim to create modern learning environments that provide equal opportunities for all students, empowering them to pursue higher education or seamlessly transition into the labor market.

Senior officials from Bahrain's Ministry of Education presented on the nation's educational transformation, touching on its history, regional and international achievements, research, technology, and vocational education, along with the policy framework.

Dr. Wurie expressed Sierra Leone's interest in partnerships to advance the country's education sector, particularly in tertiary education and vocational training. She acknowledged the hospitality and learning opportunities in Bahrain, particularly in higher education and vocational training.

The Honourable Minister outlined Sierra Leone's project to develop human capital, emphasizing education's role. She discussed President Dr. Julius Maada Bio's strategy, focusing on technology and women's empowerment, and highlighted initiatives like open distance learning and the National School of Postgraduate Studies.

Dr. Wurie toured the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Institute of Technology and Bahrain Polytechnic to learn about Bahrain's implementation of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE). These institutions offer programs in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and renewable energy, preparing students for the workforce and contributing to Bahrain's technological growth.

Accompanying Dr. Wurie were Her Excellency Haja Ishata Thomas, Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Kargbo, Mr. George Dambo, and Mr. Abu Bakarr Ismail Mbayoh, representing Sierra Leone's Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and the Embassy in Kuwait.
