OUAGADOUGOU — In a significant financial gesture to bolster Burkina Faso's counter-terrorism measures, Sibiri Biomedical Services contributed 20 million CFA francs to the national army this Wednesday. The donation aligns with a call from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, urging private sector involvement in the national fight against terrorism through both in-kind and monetary support.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the general director of Sibiri Biomedical, the funds were allocated equally between the central management of army health services and the Patriotic Support Fund, with each receiving ten million CFA francs. This contribution is intended to enhance the operational capabilities of the army, particularly in terms of medical care and support services. "We recognize the hard work our defense forces are putting in to maintain our territorial integrity and protect our people," stated Somda/Koanda. She also expressed hope that other Burkinabè citizens and entities would join the effort to support the military in their mission to reclaim control over territories affected by terrorism.
Doctor Colonel Omar Tiendrebéogo from the central directorate of the army health service emphasized that the donation would be specifically used to improve care for wounded members of the Defense and Security Forces. He noted that communities in high-security risk areas would also benefit from this bolstered support. "This donation, coming from a fellow Burkinabè, symbolizes a local commitment to saving lives and assisting our troops on the front lines," added Tiendrebéogo, encouraging more domestic contributions to end terrorism. Dr. Issa Ouédraogo, the secretary general of the ministry in charge of health, also acknowledged the impact of such donations, highlighting the reduced closure of health facilities and attributing this progress to the enhanced capabilities of the defense and security forces.
Founded in 2018, Sibiri Bio Médical Services specializes in the import and distribution of pharmaceutical products, materials, accessories, and medical equipment, aiming to improve hospital technical platforms and expand the availability of essential medical supplies at reasonable costs.
