SIAO 2024: Burkinabe Minister Extends Gratitude to OAPI Delegation at Crafts Fair

Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe Minister of Handicrafts, Serge Poda, expressed appreciation to the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) delegation for their presence at the 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO). The event, which highlights African craftsmanship, is being held in the Burkinabe capital.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Poda conveyed the gratitude of the Burkinabe people during a gala dinner held on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He emphasized the significance of the OAPI delegation’s attendance, noting it as a testament to their commitment to the economies of African countries and the bonds of fraternity and friendship with Burkina Faso.

The OAPI administrators engaged in discussions on the role of industrial designs in enhancing the crafts sector among UEMOA member countries during their visit. Minister Poda expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes of these discussions and wished the delegates a safe journey back to their home countries.

In his remarks, the minister also acknowledged the contributions of Mali and Niger, who sent substantial delegations of artisans and experts to participate in the fair. The SIAO, which commenced on October 25, 2024, is scheduled to continue until November 3, 2024, showcasing the rich crafts heritage of the region.
