Shortage of Performance Spaces Impacts Theater Development in Luanda

Luanda: The lack of suitable spaces for performances is affecting the development of theater and the appreciation of art, said Adelino Caracol, general director of the Horizont Njinga Mbandi arts company.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the director highlighted that the scarcity of performance venues and the poor condition of existing ones are hindering the progress of theater in the country. This shortage has even led to the abrupt closure of the theater group's scheduled activities, some of which had already sold tickets.

The Horizont Njinga Mbandi arts company comprises teachers and students from various educational levels, divided into three groups: seniors, juniors, and children. Their main activities include theater, dance, music, drawing, and painting.

The company has gained recognition for its participation in several national and international events and is noted for its philosophy of self-sufficiency and cultural entrepreneurship.
