Ondangwa: The late Ondangwa regional control prosecutor, Justine Ndapandula Shiweda, was laid to rest on Saturday at her family cemetery in Onambango village in the Oshana Region. Shiweda was born on 29 November 1994 and tragically succumbed to injuries sustained from a violent attack on 17 October 2025, passing away on 07 February 2026.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Chief Justice Peter Shivute, speaking at the funeral service, emphasized the impact of violence against court officers on Namibia's justice system. He described the attack on Shiweda as an assault on the country's justice framework. Shivute highlighted that harming an officer of the court while they are performing lawful duties is an attack on the entire justice system.

Chief Justice Shivute stressed the importance of resilience against violence and intimidation, insisting that the administration of justice must not be swayed by fear. He urged members of the legal community to uphold their commitment to justice without fear or favor, even under challenging conditions.

Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force (Nampol), Lieutenant Joseph Shikongo, also spoke, noting the broader impact of Shiweda's killing on both her family and the institutions that uphold the rule of law. He reiterated the critical role prosecutors play in ensuring justice is administered fairly.

Shikongo assured that the police are committed to a comprehensive investigation to bring those responsible for the attack on Shiweda to justice. He emphasized that the police and the justice system will continue their efforts to maintain safety and the rule of law, undeterred by acts of violence against officials.
