Diabo: The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Diabo municipality, Lazare Z. Guira, presided over a workshop on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, to review the "She Responds" project. The workshop aimed to assess the project's activities, share lessons learned, and develop strategies for strengthening interventions related to the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and young people.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was a platform for participants to engage in constructive discussions and draw useful lessons for future actions. Ousmane Ou©draogo, the IRC's sexual and reproductive health officer for the Diabo municipality, highlighted the project's focus on strengthening the skills of health workers, community stakeholders, and Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) teachers. The project also involved minor rehabilitation of certain health infrastructure and the provision of medical equipment and medications.
Mr. Ou©draogo reported that the project, which began on February 1, 2025, and ends on January 31, 2026, successfully completed all 22 planned activities, achieving a 100% implementation rate. He noted significant improvements in various sexual and reproductive health indicators during the project's implementation.
Biology teacher Souleymane Compaor© expressed appreciation for the project's approach, mentioning that he had received training in sexual and reproductive health, which he has incorporated into his teaching. He observed students' enthusiasm during lessons on early pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs/HIV-AIDS) and expressed a desire for sexual and reproductive health education to be expanded to the primary school level.
Health advisor Adama Niampa, representing the Fada N'Gourma health district, commended the project's actions. He expressed hope for the project's extension to consolidate its achievements and strengthen community resilience, given the current security situation in the area.
The workshop brought together administrative authorities, health and education professionals, and technical partners, with expectations of producing recommendations aimed at improving the provision of sexual and reproductive health services in the Diabo commune.
