FADA N’GOURMA: The SHALOM movement has officially transferred a 7,000 square meter center, dedicated to minors in conflict with the law, to the Fada N’Gourma prison administration. The ceremony was presided over by Bepoadi Sinini, the chief of staff of Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Human Rights, reflecting a collective commitment to justice and human rights.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the SHALOM movement, which has been active in humanitarian and sustainable development efforts in Burkina Faso since 1988, handed over the CASA MARCO center on October 22, 2024. The center, constructed in 2010, features facilities including a bakery and workshops equipped for carpentry, aiming to support skill development and social integration of minors post-sentence.
The founder of the SHALOM movement, Andrea Pio Cristian, emphasized that the center will act as a platform for raising awareness and training citizens in peace and human rights values. Bepoadi Sinini noted that the facility would enhance the capacity
of detention centers for minors, aligning with the President of Faso’s policy to transform detention facilities into environments of learning and production.
In recognition of their dedication to Burkina Faso’s sustainable development, Andrea Pio Cristian and another SHALOM movement delegate were honored with medals by the prison administration. Cristian assured ongoing support for the center, contingent upon the prison administration’s needs.
The SHALOM movement, symbolizing peace, promotes values such as solidarity and respect for individual rights.
