Windhoek: Minister of Finance and Social Grants Management, Ericah Shafudah, on Thursday tabled a N.dollars 106.3 billion budget for the 2025/26 financial year in the National Assembly.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the budget was introduced under the theme ‘Beyond 35: For a prosperous future’. In her first official budget presentation, Shafudah highlighted that preliminary indicators at the end of February 2025 demonstrate continued strong and improving fiscal fundamentals.
The proposed budget includes N.dollars 79.8 billion allocated for operational expenditure and N.dollars 12.8 billion earmarked for development expenditure. This development budget also encompasses N.dollars 3.2 billion dedicated to development projects which are funded through external loans and grants, alongside N.dollars 13.7 billion set aside for interest payments.
Shafudah stated, “This budget represents an increase of 4.9 per cent from the revised estimates of the preceding financial year.”
