Kisii: Shabana FC, based in Kisii, was unable to secure a win at home after a goalless draw against Mara Sugar at Gusii Stadium on Wednesday. The match saw both teams struggling to convert their opportunities into goals, resulting in a stalemate.
According to Kenya News Agency, Shabana dominated the first half but missed several chances to score. Erick Otieno had a clear opportunity in the 21st minute, following a precise cross from James Mazembe on the left wing, but failed to find the back of the net. Additionally, Derrick Otieno's shot in the 32nd minute went over the bar, leaving the score unchanged at halftime.
In an attempt to break the deadlock during the second half, Shabana's Head Coach Peter Okidi made several substitutions. However, these changes did not result in any goals. Mara Sugar also created opportunities but were similarly unsuccessful in scoring, and the match ended without any goals.
After the game, Okidi acknowledged that his team did not capitalise on their chances and stressed the importance of improving their style of play for the upcoming match against KCB. He expressed optimism for the new year, highlighting the recovery of injured players, including Brian Michira, who are expected to strengthen the squad in early 2026.
The draw places Shabana in 7th position with 20 points in the FKF Premier League standings.
