Dakar: Senegal’s ruling PASTEF party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, has taken a commanding lead in the November 17 legislative elections, according to preliminary tallies. The results, which were released on Sunday evening by polling stations both within Senegal and overseas, indicate that PASTEF is poised to gain a substantial majority of seats in the National Assembly.
According to Namibia Press Agency, departmental vote-counting commissions are currently in the process of finalizing the count. Once completed, the results will be forwarded to the National Electoral Commission, which is responsible for publishing the official provisional results. In a show of political camaraderie, opposition leaders have acknowledged PASTEF’s victory and extended their congratulations to its leader and candidates.
