Dakar, Senegal — President Diomaye Faye has formally proposed the abolition of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council and the High Council of Local Authorities in Senegal, calling on the National Assembly to deliberate on the matter.
According to Burkina Information Agency, President Faye has transmitted a decree to the National Assembly, scheduling a session on August 29, 2024, to discuss the bill related to this significant administrative change. This move is part of a broader effort to streamline government functions and reduce bureaucracy.
The outcome of the National Assembly's deliberations will determine the future structure of governance in terms of economic, social, environmental, and local authority advisement in Senegal.
