Dakar – In a significant policy shift, the Senegalese government is planning to cut its wheat imports by 40% in the next five years.

According to Africa News Agency, Senegal’s wheat imports reached 754,000 tonnes in 2021, costing 149.3 billion CFA francs ($248 million). This move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen domestic agricultural production and reduce reliance on foreign wheat.
