Security: The DRPN-Oubri Receives a Mission from the DCAF in Ziniar©

Ziniar©: The Oubri Regional Directorate of the National Police (DRPN) hosted a delegation from the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), led by its director, Nathalie Chuard, on Monday. The objective was to assess the impact of the "Integrity Kit" training program implemented within the National Police.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the mission was received by Divisional Commissioner Natacha Zoungrana, Regional Director of the National Police of Oubri. This visit aimed to observe the changes made in the quality of the public security service, particularly in terms of ethics, responsibility, respect for human rights, and the management of professional misconduct.

The partnership focuses on preventing corruption, strengthening integrity within the judicial police, promoting ethics in administrative policing, and improving internal control, sanctions, and reward mechanisms. At the end of the visit, Nathalie Chuard expressed her satisfaction with the results observed. She welcomed the growing proximity between the police and the public, while urging all stakeholders to remain vigilant in order to consolidate these gains.

For her part, Natacha Zoungrana noted a significant improvement in the reception and behavior of the staff. "The police are more courteous, more patient and take the time to explain the procedures to users. Collaboration with citizens has been strengthened," she stated.

The delegation visited several sites, including the legalisation service, the police station located at the entrance to the police station, the "Escale" crossroads, the surveillance post on the Ziniare-Kaya axis and the Barkoundouba control post. At this last site, Antoinette Kiemde, a saleswoman, confirmed the quality of the checks. "The agents are respectful. They mainly check that helmets are being worn and that documents are present," she testified. Rasmane Sawadogo, a motorist, shared the same opinion. "I often travel this road and everything goes smoothly," he said.

A complaints handling mechanism has also been established through a toll-free number, allowing users to report abuses without having to travel. The delegation hopes that these actions will sustainably strengthen trust between the police and the public.
