Security Guarantees for Ukraine Near Finalization, Zelensky Announces

Washington: Following discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that security guarantees for Kiev could be finalized within the next 10 days.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Zelensky revealed during a press briefing after meetings at the White House that partners are expected to “unpack” the security guarantees, with more details set to emerge. He emphasized that the arrangements are anticipated to be formally documented within the coming week to 10 days.

Zelensky highlighted the importance of the United States in signaling its commitment to coordinating and participating in the security guarantees for Ukraine. President Trump confirmed on Monday that the U.S. would have a role in ensuring Ukraine’s security as part of any agreement aimed at ending the conflict with Russia, though he did not provide specific details.

President Trump remarked that Europe serves as the “first line of defense,” but assured that the U.S. would assist in supporting Ukraine. Zelensky further mentioned that the security guarantees would include a U.S. weapons package valued at 90 billion U.S. dollars.
