Ouargaye, Burkina Faso – In a significant security operation, several planned attacks in the vicinity of Ouargaye were successfully foiled, with multiple assailants neutralized. This operation took place on the night of December 31, near the towns of Mené and Yondé.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a group of individuals, later identified as terrorists, were quietly pushing their motorcycles towards the towns of Mené and Yondé, intending to launch surprise attacks against the local Fighting Forces. Their aim was to cause widespread death and destruction during the festive period.
However, the tables were turned on the attackers as vigilant security forces had been closely monitoring their movements. As the terrorists approached Welguemsifou, two factions joined forces, continuing their advance towards Mené and Yondé. At 10 pm, security forces, described as pilots in the report, initiated precision strikes, resulting in the death of many assailants, while others fled the scene.
The successful intervention by the security forces averted what could have been a devastating attack on local communities during a time of celebration.
