Security Forces Mobilized for the 34th Tour International du Faso

OUAGADOUGOU — The 34th edition of the Tour International du Faso is taking place under heightened security measures, with an impressive mobilization of law enforcement and security forces to ensure the safety of competitors and spectators throughout the 10 stages of the event.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, the FDS (Defense and Security Forces), VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland), air vectors, and intelligence services are collaborating to provide a secure environment for the event. Police Captain Pierre Kaboré, responsible for Tour security, stated that “since the announcement of the Tour, there has been a general mobilization of the FDS and the VDP for security. Everyone was involved.”

Kaboré further explained that intelligence services are particularly focused on the provinces and regions crossed at each stage of the competition, with additional support coming from air forces. He was cautious to note that “there is no zero risk here. So everyone is on general alert.”

The Tour du Faso, taking place from October 26 to November 5, spans 1,207.800 km in 10 stages and will traverse 7 regions of Burkina Faso.
