NAMCOR and K’Negongo Foundation Support Menstrual Health in Kavango Schools

WINDHOEK: The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) in partnership with the K’Negongo Foundation has provided 1,000 sanitary pads to the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (MoEAC) for distribution in Kavango East and West regions, with the donation valued at N.dollars 80,000.

According to Namibia Press Agency (Nampa), indicates that Deputy Executive Director Knox Imbuwa received the donation and spoke about the impact this initiative has on the education and well-being of the girl child. With sanitation challenges being prevalent, the provision of menstrual health products is crucial in ensuring that girls do not miss school during their menstrual period. The significant number of female learners, constituting over half of the 864,000 learners this year, demonstrates the donation’s potential impact.

Paulina Kambonde, founder and director of the K’Negongo Foundation, in her handover speech, called for collective efforts to combat period poverty in Namibian schools and urged other companies and non-governmental organizations to contribute to such causes. She expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort between the MoEAC, NAMCOR, and all stakeholders involved.
