Windhoek: The Namibia Security Labour Forum (NSLF) and the Security Association of Namibia (SAN) have confirmed an increase in wages for security guards, which was gazetted by the government on Thursday. This follows the signing of a wages order agreement between the Security Association and the Namibian government in December.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Dhiginina Uutaapama, President of SAN, announced that the new wage increase is set at N.dollars 13.50 per hour, effective from 01 January 2025. A phased implementation of the National Minimum Wage has been approved with further increments planned for subsequent years: 2026 will see wages rise to N.dollars 16.00 per hour, and 2027 will see a further increase to N.dollars 18.00 per hour.

Uutaapama emphasized that this phased approach reflects the government’s commitment to balancing the interests of workers who deserve fair compensation. He urged stakeholders to comply with the amended wage order and ensure its effective implementation.

“We believe this is a step forward in fostering a more equitable and stable working environment for security personnel across the country. The NSLF remains committed to continued dialogue, collaboration, and advocacy to address the challenges faced by the security industry,” Uutaapama stated.
