Sector 4 Triumphs in Second Edition of Gaoua Regional Referees Commission Tournament

GAOUA — Sector 4 emerged victorious in the final of the second edition of the inter-sector tournament organized by the Regional Referees Commission (CRA) of Gaoua, defeating Sector 3 in a closely contested match on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the final, held on the field of schools A and B of Gaoua, concluded a tournament that began on December 23, 2023, with the participation of eight sectors from the city of Gaoua. The match between the long-standing rivals ended in a goalless draw after regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout where Sector 4 prevailed by scoring 5 shots to Sector 3’s 4.

The winning team was awarded 40,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, and a ball, while the runners-up received 30,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, and a ball. All participating teams were presented with a ball as well.

Vincent De Paul Kambou, President of the South-West Regional Referees Commission, expressed his satisfaction with the tournament’s success, praising the public’s enthusiasm and the sportsmanship displayed throughout the competition. Siaka Ouattara, President of the special delegation of the commune of Gaoua, also praised the initiative, noting that the tournament fostered unity and healthy competition among the youth of Gaoua.
