Luanda: The Secretary of State for Planning, Luis Epalanga, on Monday in Luanda guaranteed that there is transparency and rigor in the information system and dissemination of census data. The official highlighted the importance of accurate statistical data in understanding the country's socioeconomic realities, which is crucial for effective economic planning and reducing social inequalities.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Epalanga emphasized the strategic role of the National Statistical System in producing and disseminating credible, timely, and accessible data that serves the collective interest. He also highlighted the vital role of academia in scientific research and called for greater involvement of the academic community in planning and statistics across both public and private sectors.
Epalanga underscored the importance of linking official statistics with scientific research and personnel training to ensure institutional sustainability, methodological innovation, and public trust in official data. He urged that National Statistics Week be viewed not just as a celebration but as a catalyst for fostering a culture of utilizing official data across public administration, business, academia, and society.
Joel Futi, Director-General of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), stated that the objective is to unite the statistical ecosystem and its users. He noted that the INE, along with the National Bank of Angola and other designated bodies, coordinates and produces all necessary data.
