Secretary of State Calls for Strong Technological Innovation in Oil Industry

Luanda: The Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, Jos© Barroso, on Friday emphasized the importance of the Angolan oil industry keeping up with technological innovation and best practices to enhance its performance. Speaking at the close of the second Onshore and Inland Basins Exploration Forum, Barroso highlighted the necessity for the sector to embrace change and innovation.



According to Angola Press News Agency, Barroso stated that Angola’s oil industry must not become complacent but should strive to incorporate technological advancements. He pointed out that the country possesses a large area with significant resource potential, which requires thorough assessment to enable the state, operating companies, and service providers to make informed business decisions.



Barroso further noted that the forum reinforces the need for innovation and underscores the role of the National Oil, Gas, and Biofuels Agency (ANPG). As the national upstream concessionaire, ANPG is tasked with ensuring sustainability, environmental responsibility, and technical rigor while aligning public and private sector interests.



The two-day meeting was attended by representatives from various companies in the sector as well as government entities, highlighting the collaborative effort required to drive the industry forward.
