Windhoek — President Hage Geingob has named former Namibian Police Force Inspector General, Sebastian Ndeitunga, as the new Governor of Ohangwena Region, effective 16 November 2023. This appointment follows the immediate release of Walde Ndevashiya from his duties as Ohangwena Region Governor on the same date. In a media statement released on Wednesday, President Geingob expressed gratitude to the outgoing Ndevashiya for his service.
According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), President Geingob, under the authority granted by the Namibian Constitution and the Special Advisors and Regional Governors Appointment Act, appointed Lt Gen (Rtd) Ndeitunga. Ndeitunga’s responsibilities include ensuring full implementation of programmes and projects in Ohangwena Region in line with budgetary allocations and coordinating with Government Offices, Ministries, and Agencies for efficient service delivery. President Geingob also conveyed confidence in Ndeitunga’s ability, commitment, and fairness in discharging his new duties as the Regional Governor.
