Schoolchildren from Pouni and Tita Lead Community Clean-Up Effort

Pouni: Schoolchildren from Pouni and Tita are committed to the cleanliness of their community. The president of the special delegation (PDS) of Pouni, Ms. Nadine Tiemounou/Badiel, presided on Wednesday over a plastic waste collection operation involving schoolchildren from Pouni and Tita, AIB observed.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this citizen initiative aims to improve the living environment and instill environmental values in younger generations. The streets of the commune of Pouni experienced a special activity this Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Equipped with waste collection bags, primary school students, supervised by the teaching staff and municipal technical services, stormed the markets and the areas around schools for a "community without plastic bags" operation.

Under the supervision of the Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB), this activity is intended as an educational exercise. According to the organizers, involving children helps to raise early awareness of the dangers of plastic pollution. "This is our common home. If we don't clean it, no one will do it for us," argued a teacher who had mobilized for the occasion.

For the PDS, this strong mobilization sends a powerful signal for the protection of the local environment. They have also expressed their desire to make this action a permanent fixture on the Pouni municipal agenda.
