Windhoek: The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) has officially declared 25 and 27 November as school holidays to accommodate the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections scheduled for 26 November.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the ministry’s Executive Director, Mbumba Erastus Haitengela, announced these adjustments in a media release, noting that they replace a previous communication dated 08 October. Haitengela stated, “Following guidance from the Office of the Prime Minister, MEIYSAC has officially declared 25 and 27 November 2025 as school holidays.”
Haitengela also mentioned that school hostels will remain open on 25 November and throughout Election Day on 26 November to ensure continuity and support for learners residing in school accommodations.
The Executive Director emphasized that the last school day for learners will be Friday, 05 December 2025, while the final working day for teachers, hostel staff, and institutional workers will be Tuesday, 09 December 2025. School reports are to be issued to learners by 09 December.
He urged all Regional Directors, Inspectors of Education, principals, school board members, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to take note of the calendar adjustment and ensure appropriate planning and implementation.
