Bengo: The "Jos© Armando Sayovo" Paralympic Sports Complex located in Bengo province will host the African Wheelchair Basketball Championship to take place from March 24 to April 4, 2026. The information was disclosed by the Secretary-General of the Angolan Paralympic Committee, Ant³nio da Luz, adding that the event will have the participation of eight women's teams and 12 men's teams.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Luz said the delegations will be housed at the Jos© Armando Sayovo Complex, a measure that will facilitate internal mobility, reduce operational costs, and ensure greater comfort, safety, and concentration for the participants during the competition. He explained that a delegation from the organization of the African Wheelchair Basketball Championship recently visited the complex and confirmed that there are adequate conditions for holding the competition.
Ant³nio da Luz said that by hosting the continental event, Angola demonstrates the State's continued commitment to promoting social inclusion through adapted sports. This month, the Jos© Armando Sayovo Paralympic Sports Complex hosted the national wheelchair basketball championships for men and women, as well as the Angolan Cup.
The sports center, designed with a focus on inclusive sports and high-performance Paralympic sports, has multi-sports pavilions adapted for wheelchair sports, football fields, a fully equipped gymnasium, physiotherapy and rehabilitation rooms, adapted changing rooms, an infirmary, administrative areas, a cafeteria, as well as accommodation for athletes and coaches. It also has appropriate access and internal circuits for people with reduced mobility.
