Luanda: Thirty-one billion 500 million kwanzas have been disbursed by the Savings and Credit Bank (BPC) from July 2025 to the present to finance approximately 50 companies vandalized last year.
According to Angola Press News Agency, this information was provided on Monday in Luanda by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the public bank, Luzolo de Carvalho, during a press conference presenting the results for 2025. He explained that, of the 104 loan applications received, the institution only financed about 54, with the others generally not meeting the required criteria.
He added that the process will be closed after the completion of the four applications currently under analysis. The relief measures, contained in Presidential Decree No. 150/25 of August 4, include the priority reimbursement of 100% of VAT to affected companies, and a three-month exemption from the payment of contributions due by employers to Social Security, corresponding to 8% of the value of the gross monthly remuneration of their workers registered with social security.
More than 91 commercial establishments were vandalized and looted in the country, mainly in Luanda and Malanje, during three days of riots at the end of July 2025, according to a report by the Association of Modern Trade and Distribution Companies of Angola (Ecodima). The Arreiou stores were among the most affected, with 72 units targeted. The Angolan government approved a financial support package of 50 billion Kwanzas via BPC for the recovery of the companies.
