Ouagadougou: In preparation for the Hajj pilgrimage in 2025, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has set forth new requirements for travel and tourism agencies, mandating the recruitment of at least 1,000 pilgrims per agency. This directive was communicated by the Burkinabe Ministry of Territorial Administration, emphasizing the necessity for agencies to either meet this target individually or collaborate to achieve it collectively.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ability to open a sub-account on the Saudi platform as an affiliated organizer now hinges on this recruitment threshold. Agencies failing to meet the individual quota must join forces with others, and in such cases, the agency that recruits the highest number of pilgrims will receive the approval to organize the pilgrimage.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility has expressed reliance on the cooperation of travel and tourism agency stakeholders to effectively implement these new measures, ensuring compliance with the directiv
es from Saudi Arabia. The ministry’s communication highlights the importance of these steps in securing the necessary approvals for agencies to facilitate the pilgrimage to Mecca.
