OUAGADOUGOU — Saudi Arabia celebrated its 94th National Day in Ouagadougou, underscoring the strong diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Burkina Faso, which have flourished over nearly six decades.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was presided over by Saudi Ambassador Fahad Bin Abdulrahman H. Aldosari and attended by prominent Burkinabe officials, including the Minister Delegate in Charge of Regional Cooperation, Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré. Ambassador Aldosari highlighted the historical depth and the robustness of bilateral ties, citing multiple agreements that have been signed since the reestablishment of relations in 1965.

Ambassador Aldosari pointed out that Saudi Arabia has invested over $242 million in various development projects in Burkina Faso, enhancing sectors such as health, infrastructure, and food security. Between 2023 and 2024, twelve projects were executed to benefit the Burkinabe populace, reflecting the dynamic nature of the cooperation between the two countries.

In her remarks, Minister Kabré/Kaboré detailed the mutual visits by high-ranking officials that have strengthened the bilateral relationship. She referenced the visit of the President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly, Ousmane Bougouma, to Saudi Arabia in November 2023, and the visit of the Saudi King’s special envoy to Burkina Faso in September 2023 as pivotal moments enhancing the friendship and cooperative ties.

The celebration also served as a platform for Minister Kabré/Kaboré to reaffirm Burkina Faso's commitment to sincere and effective partnerships. She urged friendly nations to intensify their support for Sahel countries battling terrorism, emphasizing the need for solidarity and mutual aid in these challenging times.
