SARS fraudster to pay back the money

Mthatha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court convicted and sentenced Loyiso Ntaba (59) for charges of tax fraud on 31 May 2023. During the period between June 2012 and August 2016, Ntaba as the sole director of the company called Coalition Trading contravened the provisions of Tax Administration Act by failing to submit South African Revenue Services (SARS) Value Added Tax returns.

SARS lodged a complaint with the Mthatha based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation of the Hawks for probing. Investigations revealed that SARS suffered a loss of more than R1.4 million. The outcomes of the investigations led to the arrest of Ntaba on 10 November 2023 and released on a warning.

Ntaba made several appearances before Mthatha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court until his conviction and sentencing on 31 May 2023. He was sentenced to undergo five (5) years’ imprisonment suspended for five (5) years and further instructed to pay R100 000 to SARS on 1 October 2023 . He is also expected to pay R10 000 to SARS monthly until the prejudiced amount is fully paid.

The team is once more lauded by the Provincial Head Major General Mboiki Obed Ngwenya for the sterling job.
