Sapouy Schools Unite for Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation

Ouagadougou: les ©coles des secteurs 4 et 4 b unies autour du patriotisme

As part of the 2026 edition of the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, the schools of sector 4 and sector 4 B, sharing the same domain, served as the setting for a solemn ceremony of raising the national colors, marked by civic-mindedness and strong citizen mobilization. The ceremony was presided over by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Sapouy, Ourob¨ Dioma, in the presence of the defense and security forces, the head of the basic education district (CCEB) of Sapouy, religious authorities, civil society organizations as well as teachers and students who were highly mobilized.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on this occasion, the PDS delivered the message of the President of Faso, calling for a patriotic awakening and active participation of all citizens in the development of the country through local consumption. He praised the teachers’ initiative, while congratulating the students for performing the national anthem in the national language, a symbol of appropriating cultural values and national unity.

In his address, Ourob¨ Dioma urged participants, particularly students, to remain committed and disciplined. “Every time our flag flies, it embodies the resilience, dignity, and pride of our people,” he emphasized, calling on everyone to change their behavior in line with the vision of the country’s highest authorities. He also stressed the need for a return to the roots, a guarantee of sustainable endogenous development.

The ceremony was followed by a visit to the school gardens of the two schools, where several difficulties were noted, including insufficient water, a lack of adequate educational infrastructure, and deficiencies in hygiene and sanitation. However, these gardens already produce several varieties of vegetables, thus contributing to the practical education of students and the promotion of food self-sufficiency in schools.

This activity is part of a dynamic of strengthening civic-mindedness and citizen awareness, while highlighting the challenges to be met in order to improve learning and living conditions in schools.
