According to Burkina Information Agency, livestock seller Sawadogo Kassoum expressed strong support for the decision, stating that it helps prevent theft and encourages trade within the designated livestock markets. Kassoum emphasized that this move necessitates organized sales and benefits everyone involved in the livestock market.
A similar sentiment was shared by a buyer, Yanogo Issouf, who believes that the state’s intention is to bring order to the livestock trade. He views the measure as advantageous for both sellers and buyers, facilitating smoother transactions.
Physical education and sports teacher Kon© Yacouba also commended the ban, highlighting the role of local vigilante groups, the Koglw©ogo, in ensuring the measure’s effective implementation. Yacouba praised their commitment to maintaining order during this period.
Local authorities are urging vigilance and strict adherence to the new regulations as the Tabaski festival approaches. The Sapouy cattle market is experiencing a gradual influx of visitors, characterized by a lively yet controlled atmosphere.
The prices of animals at the market range from 25,000 to 300,000 CFA francs, according to Issa Sankara, a resident of Sapouy. Despite the ongoing negotiations, the market scene is filled with warm interactions and a festive mood. Sapouy is gearing up for the Tabaski festival with a strong sense of community and religious devotion.
