SanguiÉ: The rural commune of Kyon has approved its Communal Development Plan (PCD) for 2025-2029, facilitated by the Agrifood Program for Integrated Resilience and Economic Development of the Sahel (Pro-ARIDES). The updated plan was validated during a workshop at the Kyon town hall, marking a significant step in local planning and governance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Kyon’s previous development plan will expire at the end of 2024, prompting the municipality to seek assistance from Pro-ARIDES to update its strategy for the upcoming years. The new plan aims to set defined objectives, enhancing governance and accountability at the local level while aiming for increased agricultural productivity and improved income for the residents.
The updated development plan outlines the commune’s development needs, quantifies them, and sets a framework for resource management and project implementation over the next five years. It also offers development partners projects to support, fostering sustainable
local governance.
Harouna Zongo, the president of the special delegation of Kyon, called on technical and financial partners to support Kyon’s progress and urged local residents to engage in the plan’s execution. He expressed gratitude to Pro-ARIDES for its support in developing the plan and for its quality interventions in Kyon.
Didier Coulidiaty, the national coordinator of Pro-ARIDES, commended the engagement of the local population and services in the process, encouraging the municipality to use the PCD as a guide for integrated development and good governance practices.
The plan’s validation concludes a comprehensive and participatory process to identify the community’s needs. Pro-ARIDES has also supported the updating of PCDs in three other municipalities-Nanoro, Bassi, and Bogandé-with a total investment of 38 million FCFA, enhancing local governance across these regions.
Talari Germaine Ouoba, the High Commissioner of Sanguié, praised Kyon’s dedication to its development initiatives and affirmed h
er support for the implementation of the PCD in her capacity as a local supervisory authority.
Pro-ARIDES, funded by the Dutch and Danish Ministries of Foreign Affairs, is implemented by a consortium including SNV, CARE, WUR, and KIT, with local support from organizations such as FESCOPA-B, ONF-BF, AFDR, and Tin Tua.
