Sangui©: The promoter of the Yilo Cultural Center of Koukouldi (CCYK), Bassolma Bazi©, declared in Koukouldi, in the commune of T©nado, that the Day of Customs and Traditions is an occasion for communion and cohesion between the Burkinab¨ regardless of their religious denominations. "Today is a day of cohesion and communion, and I invite all Burkinabe to join in," said the promoter, Bassolma Bazi©. He emphasized that the celebration is inclusive, encouraging participation from people of all faiths.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this day is an opportunity for brotherhood among all Burkinabe people, wherever they come from. Bazi© spoke during the celebration of the Day of Customs and Traditions, under the theme: "The contribution of initiation in the formation of a disciplined and orderly citizen." He highlighted the significance of the event, noting that it aims to promote responsible citizenship through traditional values.
Bazi© pointed out that the difficulties facing Burkina Faso, particularly issues like terrorism, are linked to the educational shortcomings passed down through generations via customs and traditions. He argued that a return to these traditional values could help counteract the negative impacts of external influences and foster integrity and honor among the Burkinabe people.
The Prime Minister's representative, Minister of Justice Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, supported this sentiment, suggesting that the fight against terrorism is intertwined with the consequences of imperialism. He underscored the importance of revisiting ancestral and cultural sources to restore peace in the country and to rediscover cultural authenticity.
Val©rie Kabor©, former Minister of Culture and co-patron of the ceremony, expressed the need for more cultural centers like Yilo for the foundational training of young people. She emphasized the role these centers could play in reawakening traditional values and preparing the youth to navigate a complex world.
The ceremony featured parades of customary people, dozos, hunters, performances of Pouni masks, and the presentation of gifts to partners, all contributing to the celebration of cultural heritage and community unity.
