Kaya: The regional coordination of the Circle of Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) of Koulse organized a public conference on Sunday in Kaya on the theme: 'Islam and traditions', aimed at strengthening social cohesion and living together.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the speaker, Imam Tieogo Tiemtore, emphasized that Islam harmonizes with local values such as respect for elders, loyalty, and a sense of work, illustrating points of convergence between faith and traditions. He highlighted how these common values can serve as a foundation for unity in the community.
The national president of CERFI, represented by Abdoul Kader Sawadogo, stressed the importance of clarifying areas of divergence and encouraged young people to build a balanced identity. This initiative is seen as a step towards fostering understanding and cooperation among the younger generation in the region.
El Hadj Abdoul Karim Idani, the patron of the event, called for the valorization of traditions that are compatible with Islam and the promotion of living together. He urged the community to embrace traditions that support peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.
The regional conference brought together members of CERFI and the Association of Students and Pupils of Burkina Faso (AEEMB), as well as customary authorities and representatives of technical services. It served as a platform for exchanges aimed at strengthening dialogue and social cohesion in the Koulse region.
